Selecting a film substrate can be easy when you have all the important
information. That's why we have put together a list of questions
to ask in order to select the best product for the end use. The
more information you have about performance, construction and service
requirements, the easier it will be for GPA to help you with your
film substrate selection. Due to the varying characteristics from
product to product, it is important that you fully test any substrate
prior to production and application.
Following are the questions to ask in order to identify
which film substrate will work best for your application. Due to
the varying characteristics from product to product, it is important
that you fully test any substrate prior to production and application.
Pressure Sensitive
Films
What is the end use or application?
What will the film be applied to?
- Application Surface (i.e. plastic, corrugated,
metal)
- Surface Texture/Shape
- Chemical Reactivity of Surface
What environmental conditions will the
film be exposed to?
- Indoor/Outdoor
- Low/High Traffic Area
- Application Temperature (temperature at the time
film is applied)
- Service Temperature (temperature while the film
is in use)
- Humidity
- Moisture
- Sunlight
- Dust/Dirt
- Food Contact
- Chemicals/Solvents
How long does the film need to remain
applied or in use?
What is the size of the finished piece?
How will the final piece be applied?
- Hand Applied
- Machine Applied
- Dry Application
- Wet Application
What method of printing will be used?
- Conventional Offset
- UV Offset
- Screen
- Digital
What type of graphic finishing will
the substrate require?
- Die-Cutting
- Scoring
- Folding
- Perforating
How long will it be stored prior
to use?
